During the Covid-19 pandemic, alcohol had a strong hold on my life, making me feel like I was losing control. Struggling with intense depression and isolation, like many others, I turned to drinking instead of seeking solutions. By March 2021, realizing I couldn’t continue on the same path, I decided to seek help. Throughout my recovery journey, I discovered new ways to manage stress, anxiety, and depression without relying on alcohol. It was during this time that a friend introduced me to crafting.
Crafting became my new focus, shifting my attention from addiction and helping me face life one day at a time through creative projects. I found my passion and purpose in creating wreaths, experiencing immense joy as I saw them decorate my front door and home.

I’m thrilled to share my story, including my passion for crafting wreaths and how this creative outlet has transformed and saved my life.
Throughout my life, I’ve battled with depression and anxiety. I experimented with various coping strategies, but none provided me with the balance and relief I desperately sought from my overwhelming emotions. In moments of despair, I often turned to my old companions, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, hoping to numb my feelings.
During the Covid pandemic, I faced a “perfect storm.” I was navigating early menopause while suddenly becoming a homeschooling mom to a fourth grader with special needs, all while trying to hold together a marriage that was crumbling. My reliance on alcohol spiraled out of control, leading me into a deep depression and a struggle with isolation, a challenge many faced. Instead of addressing my issues, I only fueled my addiction. Hello and welcome to Dawn Couch Designs!
I’m excited to share with you a bit about myself, why I craft wreaths and how crafting has changed and saved my life.
All of my life I have struggled with depression and anxiety. Over the years I tried many different coping mechanisms but none seemed to help me find balance and relief from the explosion of emotions. When all else failed I would turn to my tried and true friends Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and together we would numb away the feelings.
During Covid I found myself in the midst of a “perfect storm” I was going through early menopauses, overnight I became a homeschooling mom for a 4th grader with special needs and struggling to hold together a marriage that was falling apart.
My, alcohol had taken total control over my life and I was spinning out of control. I had tremendous depression and difficulty with isolation (as did many of us) but instead of finding solutions to the issues I poured lighter fluid on my wild fire of addiction. We absolutely love the wreaths we bought from DawnCouchDesigns. They are very sturdy and are made with the highest quality materials. They look beautiful in the photos, but they are even more stunning in person. They are the perfect size (large) for a gate or front door. We ordered two for Xmas so we could give one away as a gift, but we loved them so much we kept them both. Not only does Dawn put a lot of time and effort into each wreath, but her customer service is fantastic. She is very responsive and shipped my wreaths the day I ordered them. You can tell there is a lot of thought and love that goes into each creation. The pricing is very reasonable and Dawn graciously donates the proceeds of her creations to a very special non-profit. So it’s a win-win. I would highly recommend her wreaths!

This is the third wreath we purchased from DawnCouchDesigns. We had planned to give it to a neighbor as a gift, but we had to keep it for ourselves. It is the perfect size and the materials are beautiful. We hung it on a mirror we have indoor and it brings so much cheer and holiday spirit to the room. We get so many compliments on it. We are so thrilled with the fall wreath we bought from DawnCouchDesigns. It is very sturdy and is made with the highest quality materials. The “thankful sign” and pumpkin are removable so you can use it year round. She includes a door hanger so you do not need to put a hole in your door or wall. I love the thought she puts into each design. It is even more beautiful than in the photos. We are looking forward to hanging this one after we take our Christmas wreaths (also from Dawn) down.
